Welcome to Lochgilphead Medical Centre
Our practice is a training/teaching practice.
General Practitioner Registrars – These are fully qualified doctors and already have a great deal of hospital experience. They are attached to our
practice for 12 months and usually become general practitioner partners after completing their training. They are at all times encouraged to seek
advice when required from the practice partners.
Fellows (Paediatric, Rural or Intermediate Care Fellows) – These are fully qualified GPs who are undergoing a further year of training in order
to specialise in a certain area of General Practice. This may be in a clinical field such as paediatrics or in a particular type of General
Practice, for example in a rural practice or community hospital care. They may continue to work independently as GPs, but will spend more time
away from the practice acquiring new skills in their specialist field.
GP Registrars and Fellows may wish to work on their consultation skills using video. This is purely for training purposes and concentrates on
the performance of the doctor. You would be asked if you mind your consultation being videoed and requested to sign a form before and after your
consultation to confirm you have given your consent.
Medical Students – Our students are attached to the practice for short periods and you may be offered an appointment at a student-led surgery
where the student actually leads the consultation although a GP is available to ensure the consultation adequately addresses the patient’s needs.
If you prefer not to have a student present at any of your consultations please inform the reception staff beforehand.

Disabled Access
At Lochgilphead Medical Centre, reserved car parking spaces are marked near the front door. The building has wheelchair access, internal lifts
and a disabled patients' WC. For those who require the use of a wheelchair, these are available at the Community Hospital's Accident
and Emergency Department.
We believe the arrangements for our disabled patients provide good cover but would be happy to consider any suggestions for improvement.
